We Have To Move...

Well I'm coming to the blog today to share some news on our lives, but unfortunately it's not good news today... Some of you may remember our cute little turquoise rental house, but if not, you can see our move-in weekend from last fall here. But also, here's just a quick picture before we jump into a lot of writing and explaining...

So the guy who owns our house bought it while getting his doctorate from Florida State, and did a ton of updates and renovations for the five or so years he lived in it. He's the one who painted it this glorious color :) Well he's now a professor out in California, so he's been renting it out for the last six-ish years. But now he's tired of dealing with all the hoopla that goes along with it, and decided to sell it.

There were about four or five couples that came by to look at it over a couple of weeks, and we found out eventually that three of them put in offers. Two of those couples want to live in it themselves, and the third guy wanted to keep it as a rental, since he has quite a few others in the area as well that he owns and manages. (So of course we were keeping our fingers crossed that he would get it, because he had already promised to renew our lease for another year if we wanted to.) For the last three or so weeks, things have kinda been in limbo, and we didn't know what was going on with the offers or if any of them had been accepted.

Meanwhile, we found at that one of the couples was basically going to try to kick us out as soon as they owned it, even though our lease was through August 31st. They tried to claim that they didn't have to honor the lease if they bought it, and would kick us out, even though we hadn't broken our lease. Well I was pretty sure that was incorrect... My mom is a paralegal, so I sent our lease to her and she had two of her firm's real estate lawyers look over it, and they both agreed the lease was binding, no matter who owned the house. Legally the new owners are still required to honor our lease, and can't kick us out for no reason.

Well yesterday, we finally found out that the house sold -- to the people who want to actually live in it themselves. So that means that even though we can continue living there through the end of our lease in August, we will be forced to move out after that. We were soooo hoping we could stay there for at least another year. It's just so freaking perfect for us, and we love it so much!

We are going to start looking around immediately, so that we aren't forced to scramble around at the last minute trying to find a new place to live. We are both pretty bummed about having to move, but we're trusting that God has something in mind for us. And maybe we can even find a better deal, a better house, a smaller rent check... something. We will miss our Precious Little Turquoise House though :(

I'm so sorry y'all have to move. Those people sound like a nightmare. Is that the couple that got it or the other one? Hopefully you find something equally amazing...or even better!
